Denmark envisaged a new programme of tentatively DKK 20-25 mio. in 2015-2019 in order to support Georgia’s efforts to strengthen energy efficiency and/or the use of sustainable energy sources.
Possible support might include adaptation to EU regulations on energy efficiency or enhancement of the use of sustainable energy as Georgia has a significant potential for further enhancing the use of hydropower. An identification mission to Georgia is to be undertaken with a view to collecting additional information and for discussion with key stakeholders in Georgia. The objective of the assignment was to analyse, assess and then formulate in cooperation with national partners a programme document for Danish support to reforms related to energy efficiency and/or sustainable energy sources in Georgia.
We have performed a mapping of the activities of donors and multilateral actors, and description of donor coordination mechanisms. A mapping of national stakeholders, priority needs and demands of the Georgian authorities with regard to energy efficiency and sustainable energy, as well as a Capacity assessment of implementing partner(s), other partners and sustainability issues.
