A new, exciting victory from the Global Team! 👏
Earlier this month, the team wrapped up a kickoff meeting for a new assignment in South Africa. The Global Team, together with our long-term local partner, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research&Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), have been awarded The World Bank-funded ‘South Africa: Report on Energy Poverty with Focus on Clean Cooking Technologies’.
As the name suggests, this report aims to undertake a comprehensive market assessment of energy access and utilization with a particular focus on clean cooking and heating solutions in South Africa. The report targets rural areas, especially those in the former coal mining hub of Mpumalanga, and focuses on women as decision-makers, making it a fully gender-informed study.
Additionally, this report will be key in helping South Africa advance their ‘Just Energy Transition’, which seeks to reduce energy poverty while achieving universal access and promoting a sustainable energy sector within the country.
DEM A/S's very own Kresten Kjaer is taking on the role of team leader and is spearheading the report, while Caroline Long is acting as the junior expert and research assistant. Our team is further supported by a group of enthusiastic and knowledgeable local and international experts.
